This photo was taken at the Botanical Gardens in Sheffield. It was a challenge taking the photo because of the light and getting the colours right.Time
This is a photo I like a lot I took it in the morning and had to make sure the colours stood out. I had no tripod so was trying to steady the camera too. This photo was taken in the year 2015, In the spring.Lighting
I wanted this photo to look bright a show the accurate colours. So the Botanical Gardens let sun in through the roof. So I was able to use this to my advantage.Equipment
This was shot on a Cybershot Sony Bridge camera 50X digital zoom and no other equipment was involved.Inspiration
It was for a project at college all about designing logos and Packaging. Mine was for a skin care product the focus of it being The Bird of paradise flower. So I needed a good and accurate photograph to use as inspiration and to include in the work.Editing
No I didn't do any post processing but I did cut out the photo in Photoshop to include and fit within the project. In my camera bag
Now it's usually a D3300 Nikon DSLR and Nikkor standard,Macro and Telephoto lenses. I also use a UV lens filter. I find that very useful especially when taking photos of the sky or Fish in water.Feedback
I think you should be prepared for the particular day. As I said previously the Gardens are all indoor with see through glass at the top. So it's better if it's a sunny day so the lighting will work in your favor. The colours will also show up better. Make sure you go when the flowers are out in bloom not when they are bud or half dead. so I recommend going around the winter and early spring is when they are at their best. I know I didn't but use a tripod to help steady the camera. I used Auto as a setting only because I was new to photography.
