Really nice to see a picture taken level with the (small) subject rather than the usual standing shot! I would crop the out of focus foreground to make the face more prominent

Location
It was taken in the back yard of my house.Time
It was about mid afternoon on an overcast day in the middle of winter.Lighting
It is all natural lighting, but as it was taken in a winter month, the sky was overcast on this particular day, the light was in cool tones, giving the photo a colder feel.Equipment
I used only my camera (Nikon d5300) and one of the kit lens that came with it (18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 VR). Being as new to photography as I was when I took this, I didn't really have any equipment to help me with my shots.Inspiration
This was taken a day or two after the camera was delivered (I bought it off B&H). Living in the city doesn't really lend it's self to good shots, so I took what I had and made the best I could out of it. The best I had turned out to be my dog. I chased her around a bit and took pictures from all different angles until we were both tired.Editing
There was no post processing done to this photo, that's just how it came out.In my camera bag
Given I'm no photographer extrordinair, I don't really have all that much to carry around with me at this point. I have my two kit lenses (18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 and 55-200mm f/4-5.6), a polarizing filter for each lens and a ND filter for each lens.Feedback
Go out and play with your dog, take you camera with you and shoot pics as you go, but don't forget that your playing with them and not just observing them from really close. Getting shots from all angles is great but photos turn out better at eye level with the subject or below eye level. Also, don't be afraid to get the camera dirty. It's made to stand up to the elements so a little dirt won't do any harm to it.
