Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my home town, a little city in Portugal, called Guarda. I enjoy walking around this special part of the city: is the historic part, the first to exist. Have old buildings, narrow streets, where is very dificult to the sun shine in all the hours of the day.

Time

This photo was taken in Februar, closer to midday. As In my city at this time is still very cold usually, at midday there's almost none sunlinght. But in this particular day, it snowed, so all the city have a very nice and white "blanket" upon her. I saw all this pigeons in a search for some food, I suppose, so I had to make a shot and I was approaching slowly.

Lighting

The major tones wer white because of the snow and the sky itself. So it's importante to have all this details in mind when making a photograph.

Equipment

In this I use my Nikon D2x with my Nikkor 85mm

Inspiration

It was a decision of the moment. I was "discovering" my own city with all the snow and just saw this: narrow street, pigeons, a few snow. I just feel that I had to take this photograph.

Editing

Normaly I don't use any post-processing in the photos. In this, I had to convert to bnw and made some adjust in luminosity.

In my camera bag

Ussually I carry in my bag my Nikon D2x, my Nikkor 85mm and the Sigma 18-200mm.

Feedback

Always pay attention to the details, even if you pass in the same places over and over. It just take a second to see the things on other perspective, and it can make all the difference in a photograph.
