is a ruined 15th & 17th centuary castle on the north east banks of loch awe. it was the ancestral home of the campbells of glen orchy who later became the earls of breadalbane. it was original built in 1450 by sir colin campbell the first lord of glenorcy, an impressive 5 story towerhouse defended by its outerwalls. further additions where done during the 16th and 16th centuries, it was on a small island which is now connected to the mainland when water levels were altered during the early 1800's its one of the best castle ruins to explore within the local
