Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my backyard, while my daughter was exploring the garden.

Time

A warm evening just before Golden Hour.

Lighting

I find that at the angle that the evening sun just nearly catches my house, the best photos are taken in the shade. If gives the glow and allows for the photo to be sharp and clear.

Equipment

I used my Nikon D3100 with its 18mm-55mm kit lens.

Inspiration

I had just learned about aperture, ISO and shutterspeed. At the time I had no clue what I was doing and was basically just fiddling with the knobs to better understand. This photo was a result of at least an half hour of knob swivveling...

Editing

The sun fell perfectly and the lighting was just right. One of those rare moments. All I did was crop the picture a bit, as the dog photobombed the right side...

In my camera bag

Im a complete novice and currently only have my Nikon and kit lenses. I use photoshop elements to brighten photos only and crop.

Feedback

Take a million photos. The longer you spend on a subject, the more you will learn their "charming" features and thats where the beautiful images come from.
