Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a local township in the rural parts of Springbok, Norther Cape South Africa.

Time

It was 'n heavy overcast cold day, I took my domestic worker home because all the taxis has already left, and had a bag of allsort sweets in my camera bag, when we drove by some local kids playing in the streets, we stopped and gave them some of the sweets and asked if i could take some pictures of them playing. And then this happend

Lighting

This was all natural overcast light.

Equipment

In my bag I had my D90 and a 35mm prime lense

Inspiration

I was busy organising a photo exhibition to raise money for one of the charity soup kitchens I volunteered at. The theme of the exhibition was about the local poverty and the need we had in our local community. So I was always on the lookout for "hard spoken images"

Editing

I did use Lightroom to adjust the contrast of the image. But thats about it

In my camera bag

Normally in my bag: Nikon D90 Nikon D4s 2 Nikon speedlights 35mm f1.8 prime 50mm f1.8 prime 100mm prime 70-200mm f2.8
