Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on the banks of a small lake that is located next to a baseball field that my son always played at. It's called Tanners Lake located in Oakdale MN. I love this little lake because I can take pictures of my son playing ball and also the plants and flowers along the walking path at this lake.

Time

This photo was taken at about 8:30 pm just as the sun went down. I thought that I missed that mystical moment when the sun is so low in the sky.

Lighting

I actually didn't think this picture would turn out that well because the sun had all ready set.

Equipment

I have just a beginner camera, a Canon T5i with a kit lens. This camera was still so new to me and I really was still figuring out all the settings.

Inspiration

I love nature and the way a sunset looks. I was actually leaning down to take a picture of a little white flower. When I stood up, I saw the way the tall grass looked against the sky and took the picture. I took quite a few, but liked the way this one looked the best.

Editing

I did do a small bit of post editing. I adjusted the warmth and contrast a bit using Photoshop Express on my iPad.

In my camera bag

I normally carry just my Canon camera and the kit lens. I also take quite a few pictures with my iPhone. I believe a stunning photo can come from any camera as long as you have a good eye for it.

Feedback

Sometimes it comes down to being in the right place at the right time. Dawn and dusk are magical times, the lighting is beautiful! Having patience is a must as well.
