You have a really good eye for design and composition. Slightly jealous. Best wishes.

Behind The Lens

Location
I was walking the streets of New York City while on a family vacation and looked to capture the simple lines of this building as we walked by.
Time
It was the middle of the day with no direct sunlight in the area I was taking the photo from.
Lighting
The lighting on this particular shot was the natural light at the end of a late summer day.
Equipment
I was using my Nikon D200 and Nikkor 17-55mm 2.8 while handheld.
Inspiration
I can't say there was anything in particular that inspired me to take the photo other than I wanted to take advantage of wandering the streets of NYC while I was there.
Editing
Post processing included taking the original photo and reflecting it to give the converging lines near the center of the frame. I am really drawn to the symmetry from side-to-side and top-to-bottom.
In my camera bag
For me, I'm not one that carries a lot of gear. On a given day I can be found carrying the D200, 17-55mm 2.8, SB-800, and 80-200mm 2.8.
Feedback
Think about what you want the final image to look like and that will help direct you toward how to take the photo before pressing the shutter button
