Afternoon shadows begin to darken the valley in Yosemite National Park, California. Many of the trees have died a due to a beetle infestation brought on by five years of drought. Looking east toward El Capitan, Cathedral Rocks, Half Dome and Clouds Rest, this landscape was captured from the area of Tunnel View, entered from the south side of the park. In November, when this was taken, Bridalveil Fall had barely begun to flow from a recent light snow.
