Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the entrance to a Bluegrass festival in Pocatello, ID. They had this beauty parked by the ticket booth and I fell in love instantly!

Time

The day was headed into evening at the time this photo was taken, I would say around 7pm in the summer.

Lighting

Where the truck was parked just happened to have the perfect lighting at this time of day. It seemed to really help show off the details and texture in the worn paint and rusty metal.

Equipment

I used my Nikon P520 to take this shot.

Inspiration

I ALWAYS love old cars and trucks, and have a real appreciation for the ones that are still around and being displayed. So this was the very first photo taken of the evening.. a wonderful surprise! I enjoy the challenge of showing off the beauty or capturing the essence of an item or place in a single frame.

Editing

I added a slight vignette filter to this photo just to help frame it a little bit.

In my camera bag

I wish I could say that I have a lot of fancy equipment, but I dont. Haha. I have my Nikon P520 and the only other thing I carry with it is the charging cord. :)

Feedback

For this particular shot, which was not planned in anyway, it would be hard to offer advice. This was just a moment when I noticed a beautiful truck parked in just the right spot for capturing its depth. So, always be on the lookout for great objects and scenes, whether you're expecting to find them or not.
