Location
I took this shot at a local boatyard. There are always new and old boats coming in and out, this particular boat has been here for decades slowing rotting away.Time
It was around mid morning when I took this shot. I've saw the boat many years ago as a child and completely forgot about, until I was taking the dog for a walk and stumbled across it again.Lighting
The lighting wasn't to harsh for the time of day, and allowed me to capture the contrasts very nicely.Equipment
As I was walking the dog, I hadn't planned on a photography shoot. So I had no gear with me except my iPhone, but I saw the boat, and still water creating a beautiful reflection. I just had to take the shot there and then.Inspiration
I love dramatic shots, and things that are not in perfect condition, this decaying boat summed up my style and grabbed my attention.Editing
I usually use Lightroom and photoshop to post process, touching up where I think necessary. I didn't have those programs at the time so used a black and white app on my phone. In my camera bag
I usually carry my canon 20d dlsr, my 18-50mm canon lense and my 28-300 sigma zoom, along with a sturdy tripod. I also carry an old canon film camera and some film, I enjoy processing film and love the look it gives.Feedback
My advice is never go out without your camera, there is so much more I could have done with this image if I had my gear with me, so my advice would be that if you find something that grabs you, do what you need to get the shot, if I had gone back for my canon the shot would have gone.
