Behind The Lens

Location

This photo is a typical studio shoot. It was taken in a small but nice studio in Warsaw,

Time

For studio shoots time of day is not important but in this case... it was late afternoon, and our model was after long day :)

Lighting

I used only one lamp, just in front of model face. During postproduction I've made some manipulation with lighting to hide background and to create central focus on model's face and t-shirt.

Equipment

I used Canon 5D Mk III with Canon 85 f/1.2 lens. This shoot I took without tripod. Of course with studio light (one) with modifier to make the light softer.

Inspiration

The answer is only one - Charlie Chaplin :) This great comedian was a part of my childhood. I love his movies even now. His sense of humor was great and make me laugh all the time when I see his hat and mustache :)

Editing

Of course :) I've done my typical post-processing starting from Camera Raw to make this picture more dramatic. Later, using Photoshop and curves I've made a converstion to B&W.

In my camera bag

My typical equipment: Canon 5D Mk III, Canon lens: 50 f/1.2, 85 f/1.2 135 f/2 (the best one!). I'm shooting using analog camera - Contax 645.

Feedback

Two advices: - find a patient model - this kind of picture need to be done with model standing in the same position for a long time - find the best lights setup - remember what you want to show and what you want to hide
