Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken iN a little club in the side streets of cardiff city centre ....

Time

It was taken early evening around 6pm ish so the sun was shadowing the street outside

Lighting

The lighting was just a pool table lamp and a few dim side lamps and the light reflecting from outside ... no flash used as I try not to use them as it's more natural lighting ...

Equipment

I use my trusty canon 600d and a 50mm 1.8 ¡¡ lens and it was hand held so no need for a tripod as it was a tight space to work in ...

Inspiration

The model reminded me of the actress off a tarantino film and with this outfit it was perfect for the papered background walls .... a great contrast ...

Editing

I sharpened up the image and brightened up the foreground to help make the model stand out a bit more ...

In my camera bag

At the moment in my bag is usually my canon 600d camera , 50mm 1.8¡¡ lens ,my standard kit lens 75-300mm... hand grip extra batteries and memory cards and my cleaning cloth and pen for the lens and of course my tripod for outdoor shots. A notebook and pen for names and contacts of clients and that's about it at the moment. ...

Feedback

Look for an oldie world type of room and just don't rush the shots try different lighting and don't be afraid to be bold get out and do it and don't try to use to much editing skills it's just getting the f stops right and the iso ...fiddle around and take a few shots and just and relax just look for things that inspire you before looking what shots to take then do your own take on them .... have fun.....
