Behind The Lens

Location

I took this foto in Pezenas, a sleepy village in the south of France I absolutely fell in love with. On a corner of one of it's many small ancient alleyways I found a bead store, a back door led to a small garden where I found these awesome pots filled with colored beads.

Time

We had been wandering around for quite some time by the time I took this shot, I reckon it was around sunset.

Lighting

I didn't have a flash gun with me so all I had to work with was what remained of daylight and a couple of yellowish lanterns. Imagine the amount of shots I had to take to get the lighting the way I wanted to haha.

Equipment

I used my very first DSLR, the Canon EOS70D, combined with a 18-135mm lens.

Inspiration

I got inspired to take this picture when I was taking some shots from a lower angle and my girlfriend pointed out that you could stand in a hole in the table to take a picture from above. Turns out she knows more about she knew more about photography and composition than she claimed to.

Editing

I hardly did any processing, I cropped it a little because a bit of my arm was showing in a corner.

In my camera bag

Normal I have my Canon EOS70D with my 18-135 with me, a couple of micro SD memory cards and my tablet to do some in field processing.

Feedback

Time is your best friend, even though I was losing daylight quickly I took my time to get my settings right. A static subject doesn't walk away so why hurry? Don't be scared to get athletic, I really had to get on my toes and stretch as high as I could to get the right shot. A great help with that was the moveable screen and liveview on my 70D
