This photo was taken when I was out walking the fields with my family pheasant hunting in South Dakota I saw the Owl every time we were hunting the fields. Every time I saw him he flew before I had the chance to grab my camera. After the third day of seeing him in a row, he finally just sat and posed for the camera!Time
This photo was a luck of a moment photo, I remember waking up that day and deciding I was going to tag along with my brothers and dad on their hunting trip. We had the truck packed full for hunting but I insisted on bringing my backpack with all my camera equipment. It was just about sunset when I saw the Owl flying around and I snuck up on him hunkered down in the weeds and he posed nicely for a few photos.Lighting
When I captured the owl he was hunkered down in a tree belt so lighting was low so I took in consideration of the sunsetting and angled the owl with the sun so I got some nice light shining in on the picture.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon 5D Mark II and a 70-200mm F2.8 lens.Inspiration
I Love Love capturing wildlife and the expression of wildlife, to me wildlife photography is exciting and thrilling. Its all about the hunt and chase of capturing the animals in their habitats.Editing
I shot this photo in Raw so I opened it into Photoshop and saved as JPEG, no post-processing.In my camera bag
The first thing I always pack is my 300mm F2.8L lens when I am shooting wildlife photography, then my 2x extender. I shoot with my Canon 5D Mark II, Canon VIXIA HF G30 HD Camcorder, and Canon EF 24mm-105 mm f/4L.Feedback
Always have your camera with you, and always be on the look out for something to capture. Wildlife photography is a lot like hunting you have to understand the animal you want to capture and make sure you don't disturb the wildlife in their habitat. Respect the wildlife!
