I took this photo in Miami Zoo in the US.Time
It was in the afternoon at around 2 or 3.Lighting
Nothing in particular, it was mixed ambient light that I had to work with.Equipment
I used Canon 6D camera with a Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS II lens attached to it. No flash or tripod.Inspiration
I was wandering around in the zoo with my family looking at the big mammals when I found this beautiful bird lost in its own world. It was all alone lying in a corner posing beautifully for photographers. I happened to take a look at it and couldn't resist and clicked two three shots quickly.Editing
Yes, the original photograph had lot of distracting elements in the frame. I got rid of those in photoshop and added vignetting. Of course, I did some basic adjustments too like exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows etc.In my camera bag
I do not go out on travel photography without these - 1. A camera (Canon 6D), 2. Wide angle lens (Canon 24-70 or Canon 16-35), 3. Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS II, 3. Polarizing filter, 4. ND and graduated ND filters (Cokin) 5. Tripod, 6. Extra battery and SD cardsFeedback
Be attentive to your surroundings. Never get fixated on one subject or concept. Nature works in a different way, it changes all the time and you don't get notifications like in Facebook. So you have to be cognizant of the change all the time and be willing to capture whatever captivates you in that moment. Great photographs are no doubt 'made' but they are also sometimes 'taken' by being very attentive to the present moment.
