These two girls are so much alike in personality and have loved each other since they were very small. Their friendship is a lasting one. I did not tell them how to pose, this just came naturally.

Location
In the most private and peaceful location you can think of, my mother's garden. The untamed trees makes for a good background.Time
As is true for most of us, a full and satisfied belly makes for a happy state of mine. These adorable girls were well fed, rested and ready for this photo shoot at the end of the afternoon on a chilly winter's day.Lighting
The day started out sunny. Yes the day started out beautifully. Unfortunately clouds had appeared by the time these two super models were ready. Nevertheless, it worked out wonderfully. In fact, there was not much need for photo editing.Equipment
All I used was a handheld Sony a58. ISO 100, F/1.8, Shutter speed 1/160, Focal lens 500/10Inspiration
My daughter is the brunette to the left of the picture. The girl on the right is her very best. I wanted to capture their heartfelt friendship so I wrapped them up close in a warm blanket. There was no need to tell them how to pose. This just came naturally.Editing
As mentioned earlier, the clouds came in handy. There was no need to remove unwanted shadows. All I have done in post-processing was some cropping and selecting a suitable black and white filter. In my camera bag
My husband gave me a wonderful backpack where I can have everything I need. I always carry my Sony lenses. A DT 4-5.6/55-200 SAM zoom, a DT 1.8/50 SAM portrait lense and the kit lense DT 3.5-5.6/18-55 SAM II. I also keep a small hairbrush and a lip ice with a faint pink shade. This makes me ever ready for portraits. Unruly hair and dry brownish lips are a no go on my pictures.Feedback
Make sure your subjects are at ease with you and give them loads of compliments. They need to know that they are indeed gorgeous and ready for this. When I take pictures of kids I always cheer them on by saying: "Work it! Work it!" I get great shots this way. Kids love to work it. Once they get into the modelling state of mind they will give you attitude, sadness, joy or even drama. My motto is: If it's fun it will be good.
