Each year Key West hosts the World Championship Power Boat Races. The most unique element of these Offshore Power Boat races is how close the boats and their chase helicopters scream past the land based spectators creating one of the best views of offshore power boat racing. The Power Boat races are open to the public and can be seen for free anywhere along the Key West waterfront. Imagine standing in Mallory Square or sitting in an outdoor restaurant or bar and watching offshore racing boats with 3000+ horse power scream by at over 125 mph as helicopters chase them all within 50-75 feet from where you are. Its an incredible experience.
