This covered bridge is part of a popular bike trail and hard to capture without all the foot traffic. However, I made it out early enough not only to capture the fog in the morning light but also managed not to get run over.

Location
This photo was taken at a local park. This bridge provides access to a playground, bike trail and a college campus. Due to the early morning hours and unique weather conditions I was able to capture this without pedestrian traffic.Time
This was captured in the early morning hours just after sunrise. I found this is the best time to catch any foggy shots just before the sun heats up the day and breaks away the fog.Lighting
This was a rare opportunity to shoot in the direction of the sun which provided the best composition because the sun's brightness was dulled by the moody, foggy, mist. Because the sun was still low in the sky and the fog so thick, the warm tones were able to be captured without using additional filters.Equipment
I shoot with a Canon 7D and in this instance used the Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM wide angle. This was a last minute grab and go moment so no other equipment was used.Inspiration
Foggy mornings are truly one of my favorite times to shoot landscapes. The fog provides a natural mood and undistracted backdrop that is rare in the city, and the early morning soft light that is naturally diffused with the fog is ideal.Editing
Very little post processing was used in this photo. Lightroom was used exclusively to bring up the shadows on the bridge and to provide for more clarity. The colors were slightly enhanced to bring out some of the warmth. In my camera bag
I use a Canon 7D and usually carry both the Canon 10-22mm wide angle and the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Telephoto Zoom Lens. When shooting portraits I also use the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens. I rarely use filters or tripods when shooting.Feedback
Wake early and have a place in mind for your composition as the light and weather conditions during foggy days changes so drastically within minutes.
