I took this photo in my garden, I am self learning photography and I loved the challenge of the flower provided. I had enjoyed trying to get the perfect angle and close up to make sure that there was only one in the frame. I learnt a lot from this photo.Time
I remember setting up the tripod a little after nine in the morning as I had to wait for the sun to rise enough to come into the courtyard. I started playing with my settings to see which I would like best. I went with the close up. This photo was taken 12th February 2016 at 10:26.Lighting
I found that the flowers looked the best in the soft afternoon Autumn sun. In South Africa during Autumn, the skies are blue and the sun is really strong and bright.Equipment
This was shot on a Cannon EOS 1000D using a tripod.Inspiration
I love photographs of flowers with their different colours and petal shapes. I loved how the close up showed the lovely little white flower with the colourful leaves that surround it.Editing
No, I didn't do any post-processing. I didn't know how to change the photo to make it better and I wanted to focus on getting the photo right, (which was easier, because it didn't move and was there again the next day).In my camera bag
I always pack my Cannon EOS 1000D, next I pack my Cannon 18-55mm lens and then my Stigma 70-300 and hood just in case. I also make sure that I have spare SD cards. I also make sure that I have my tripod. When my bag is packed I'm ready for what ever may come my way, I may not always get the shot but at least I am always prepared. I hope to add a wide angle lens to my bag, one day.Feedback
I found that early morning or late afternoon are the best times to take photos of flowers outside, the light is softer and you have less post processing to do.
