Location
This was taken in the Grand Canyon while I was on an 8-day float trip on the Colorado River, which you see in the photo. I would have liked to get some sky details, but there were no clouds. As an amateur photographer with no experience, my camera was set on fully automatic.Time
I was thrilled with how this photo came out. It was in late morning from the north side of the canyon. We had stopped for a short hike up the side. This is what I saw when I turned around to look at the view.Lighting
The lighting was totally Mother Nature at her best. I DID attempt to get the best exposure for the sides of the canyon.Equipment
This was shot on film and I honestly don't remember what anything about the camera. I DO know that I did not use a tripod or flash.Inspiration
I simply wanted to capture the amazing wonder and overwhelming size and grandeur of what I saw.Editing
The only post-processing I did was to some dodging and burning to get the low-lights a little brighter and try to get SOME detail in the highlights.In my camera bag
I currently carry my Nikon D5300 with the Nikkor 18-55 MM lens which has a UV Filter and a Circular Polarizer Filter. I usually also have the Nikkor 55-300 mm lens, which also has a UV filter and Circular Polarizer filter.Feedback
When you are unsure of what the best settings are on your camera, it's best to just use the automatic setting.
