Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in late summer, in the Sierra Nevadas California Lakes Basin Region, at Upper Lola Montez Lake. Evening was setting and the view was looking Eastward. The lake is an exquisite example of a small high mountain, shallow lake at around 8000 ft. Elevation. I used my tri-pod, wiith Polarizing lens. There has been no touch up or compositing or bracketing HDR on this photo. One shot.

Time

7:30 PM

Lighting

I was entralled by the reflective features in the lake with the canoe and stump as non reflective items pointing into the center of the reflection.

Equipment

Canon EOS 40D on Tripod. Lens 10-22mm Canon Lens. No flash Shot in Manual mode. ISO 100 WB Cloudy.

Inspiration

The reflections with the canoe and 'real' features in foreground. The clouds were so picturesque.

Editing

Very little. I might have done and enhance in Iphoto. I did not bracket or sharpen.

In my camera bag

Canon 10-22mm lens, Canon 18-200mm lens; lens brush and cleaners. UV Filter and Polarizing filters. Tripod.

Feedback

Set up in advance. If you see the clouds and stillness of the evening, be ready for that moment when the reflections really pop in the water. Find an element that draws the eyes into the reflections in the water.
