Behind The Lens

Location

This is from a road trip to somewhere... I forgot where. The fog was thick and I wanted a photo of the road disappearing into it; but of nowhere that tree appears. It brings more feeling to it.

Time

I remember it as being in the middle of the day... It doesn't really matter. It's about composition.

Lighting

A thick fog doesn't bring much light... Make sure to compensate.

Equipment

I used my smartphone, actually. A Sony Xperia z5 compact. It was the only camera I had on my at the time.

Inspiration

I absolutely adore fog photos. This particular photos was a spur of the moment; an opportunity that presented itself for only a few seconds.

Editing

I may have added som vignette and contrast and maybe a black and white filter. Although the thick fog had already drawn out most colour that day.

In my camera bag

A Nikon d90 with a prime 35mm. And always my smartphone. I enjoy shooting moments on the go.

Feedback

Get to know your equipment; especially if you use your smartphone. Find its strength and weakness. Use it for your benefit. And patience and keeping your eyes open. If you wake up one morning and there's a fog outside, grab your camera immediately and walk outside. You won't regret it!
