Fuut, Great Crested Grebe, Podiceps cristatus

The Great Crested Grebe is a remarkable bird in the country because of the beautiful plumage, the young grebes with their zebra stripes and the beautiful courtship rituals. In the beginning of this century, they were not very common in the Netherlands. Now is a great crested grebe in the moat the most normal thing in the world.
During breeding they have large ear tufts and 'whiskers'. This grebe is in winter plumage and so much less noticeable.
