I was photographing a dog show in Keminmaa Finland. I did not have any earlier experience of photographing dogbut I decided to take the challenge and test my skills.Time
Picture was taken during the day in cloudy winter weather.Lighting
I was asked to take photos in a small dog show in Keminmaa. I went early to the scene and made a small photography scene from reindeer skins. I made a small snow wall and placed the beautiful skins as a background .Equipment
I wanted to be versatile so not too much equipment with me. Since it was snow all over I figured there's no point using flash. Used my d600 Nikon with Tamron 28-75 f2.8.Inspiration
I like animals and being with beautiful dogs made me put some extra effort to the pics.Editing
Just little sharpening and minor color adjustment. Model was so great that not much post processing needed. In my camera bag
Depends on situation. I mostly shoot with prime lenses but I like to have one zoom with me for versatility. I either take Nikkor 50mm 1.8 or 85 1.8, 180mm 2.8 for reach and Tamron 28-75 f2.8. Tamron is not often considered as Pro lens but I like it since it's lightweight and close focusing all-around lens. This pic was also taken with it. I also might have a flash with me.Feedback
Be patient. On a dog shows, dogs might jump around and do something unexpected. Be patient and when you have the chance to take a great photo, be quick. Try to set your setting right before trying to take the photo since with animals, you might get a pose you want only once.
