Behind The Lens

Location

I shot this image at a farm in Kalispell Montana during a winter equine photo shoot.

Time

This was shot on a late winter morning. The horse was hot from running and the steam off his body made for a cool shot.

Lighting

When I shoot dark horses especially on white snow I always stop up +1 to get some detail on the dark horse.

Equipment

I shot this with a canon 1 D X and a canon 70-200 2.8 II lens. Hand held.

Inspiration

I'm an equine photographer so the love of a horse always inspires me.

Editing

I shoot in raw 100% of the time and process in bridge and photoshop.

In my camera bag

Usually with horse shoots I carry the 70-200mm and also a 24-70mm both 2.8.

Feedback

When shooting horses the ears should always be forward if possible. The eyes sharp as a tack. Dark horses may need to be stopped up +1. Practice makes perfect.
