Welcome to VB! The expression on the boys face tells a lot for a really good story. Keep it up.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in an airport museum in front of a window that looks out to the runway.

Time

This was taken around 2pm when there was full sun.

Lighting

The sun was bright which illuminated the window frame which is why I was able to get the lighting on the front of them. There was minimal light inside the museum which aided in the mood of the photo.

Equipment

I was shooting handheld with a Nikon D7100 with a 50mm lens 1.4g

Inspiration

My husband and son both love aviation. I didn't know I had this shot until I got home and saw it on my camera. I instantly fell in love with the simplicity and also the love they have for aviation.

Editing

I used Lightroom to change the photo black and white. No other edits

In my camera bag

I have since upgraded to a Nikon D750 which has given more control in low light situations. I always have my 50mm, 85mm and 24mm lenses in my bag.

Feedback

Always have your camera and don't be afraid to experiment. This photo was a candid shot and nothing posed. Mt son was actually making airplane noises as they were taking off and you can see that by the expression on his face.
