Nice start to your portfolio, but watch the horizon unless it is supposed to be on a slant, good luck and welcome to VB, Rod

Location
This photo was take at Lake Tahoe after I spent a long frustrating time driving north from the eastern shore of the lake towards the northern end. I could not find a place where I could see the lake because of the forests along the somewhat winding road. I had remember seeing the plants in the foreground at various places and finally thought, "What the heck. Next time I see some of these I will stop" I had to lie flat on the ground with my head uphill in order to take the shot on the sloped ground.Time
This was taken in the afternoon sometime in September. I was using the downtime from a conference I was attending in Reno to visit the lake and look for scenes to photograph.Lighting
This was totally luck of the draw with available light.Equipment
This was taken with a handheld Nikon D 90 with a Tamron AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD. Settings were ISO 200 at 18mm f/11 1/500SInspiration
I had seen these plants in various spots and finally decided it was the only remotely good shot I might get.Editing
Very little other than cropping. In my camera bag
I have a Nikon D750 and am trying to transition to the Nikon Z7, but it won't work with my 150 to 600 lens which is the lens I use most for wildlife. During the pandemic, I have had very little opportunity to use my shorter lenses.Feedback
This was really a lesson in patience and finding things that were not what you were looking for. I thought I would end up with a stunning panorama; something dramatic. I was feeling very frustrated that I could not find anything ;that could be shot easily, given how much of the lake trees is blocked by trees. I was driving a rental car and only had a limited amount of time. This really was a shot that was "I haven't gotten anything decent. I might as well try this."
