Behind The Lens

Location

This image was taken along the road to Arizona Snowbowl on the San Francisco Peaks in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Time

It was taken around 5 pm on October 15, 2012 while the evening sun was setting into the trees.

Lighting

It was fairly standard lighting and exposure as it was taken at 1/100 sec at f/16 with ISO 320.

Equipment

This image was taken with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II and my trusted Canon EF24-70mm f/2.8L USM lens. That's it!

Inspiration

Just looking up into the trees while the Winter sun was setting in the autumn colored leaves.

Editing

It was all done solely within Lightroom and the main effect was reducing the saturation and luminance of blue, purple and magenta colors to a minimum in order to make the sky a really dark grey. I also reduced the blacks to -50 and reduced the highlights to -95. Everything else is pretty much standard Lightroom processing.

In my camera bag

I usually carry my old Canon 5D Mark II with my goto lens, a Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L. If I'm working on a special or commercial project I will usually rent additional/backup gear.

Feedback

Just remember to look up sometimes! Not all scenes are at ground level ;)
