Location
In Basin Montana, by Basin Creek.Time
It was probably mid-day.Lighting
It was very bright that day so I didn't have to mess with the lighting. The moment was perfect!Equipment
I used my camera. I didn't have any extra lenses with me that day, so I practically had to lay on the ground and be very still in order to get so close!Inspiration
I absolutely love taking pictures of nature! I was taking my dog for a swim and a few of these butterflies were hanging out on the edge of the creek, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to capture how beautiful they were!Editing
I did not have to do any editing to this picture. In my camera bag
On this day I didn't have a bag with me, I grabbed my camera and left the house! I always have my camera with me no matter where I go. That's about all I carry with me unless I am planning for something specific. I would love to be able to add a panoramic lens to my collection, also a better zoom lens, since for all of my close-ups I just get very close to what I am taking a picture of.Feedback
Patience is something to have when you are trying to take pictures of butterflies, they don't stay still for long so you might end up chasing them around for quite a while. If you do notice that there is a specific spot, flower, or rock that they keep landing on, you can sit next to it and eventually they will land and hopefully stay long enough for you to take the photo. Good luck! The photos that you will take will be worth the wait!
