This photo is of my dog, Duffy, who we got as a rescue. He grew into a beauty and he loved to jump up into the tree in our backyard so he could bark at people walking their dogs down the street beside us and the street in front of us.Time
I can't remember as the photo was taken about 10 years ago.Lighting
The tree had a large canopy and Duffy was well shaded.Equipment
It was a digital point and shoot. I put my hand on the fence, the camera on the back of my hand, to steady the camera and took the shot.Inspiration
All the neighbours knew Duffy as the dog that jumped up into the tree and everyone loved him. We got him as a young ugly dog and he turned into the beautiful dog you see in the photo. I tired many times to get a good shot of him in the tree and this one was my success. My inlaws were the previous owners of our home and always had large dogs and not one of them ever jumped up into that tree. I wanted Duffy being in the tree to be documented.Editing

Go out as often as you can to take your pictures. I must have tried over 100 times - thank goodness for digital photography!! I find it very difficult to get a "natural" shot but I find they are so much more rewarding than me trying to pose animals or people.
