The South American Gray Fox (Lycalopex griseus), also known as the Patagonian fox, the chilla or the gray zorro, is a species of Lycalopex. South American Grey Foxes have a body length between 42 and 68 cm, a tail length between 30 and 36 cm and they weigh between 2 and 4 kgs. They are grey in colour with a pale underside and they have rust coloured markings around their head, ears and legs. South American Grey Foxes can be found on the plains, grasslands, forest edges and the foothills of mountain ranges in southern South America.
