Went out to try and caption a picture of the blood-super moon a few months ago. Finally found a field where no house or city lights would get in the photo. Had few photos of the moon and a plane caught my eye so I set the camera up and counted down as it passed by and caught it over the moon. One of my favorite photos I've taken as well as my number one viewed photo on Facebook!

Location
Woodinville, Washington. Out on the back side towards Monroe and away from all city lights.Time
It was around 11-11:30 PMLighting
There were no city lights around so all I did was zoom in with no lighting to allow the Moon to show as much as possible.Equipment
Nikon D5500 with a 70-300mm lens. No tripod, I timed the plane and how fast it was traveling and counted down to capture it in the moon.Inspiration
I was already shooting the blood moon that night and noticed the plane flying by and realized it would silhouette in front of the moon so I timed it and shot the photo.Editing
Yes, all I used was the Mac photo editing software that comes pre installed. In my camera bag
My camera (Nikon d5500) 35mm lens, 70-300mm, 18-55mm and a flash.Feedback
Use a tripod if you can't steady your hands. Time how fast the plane is moving and begin the shot when it first comes into frame. Take your photo when the object moving is in your desired spot.
