Camera was a Nikon D7100, the lens used was a Tokina 11-16 DX11, the tripod is a Manfrotto 190 with a Sirui ball head with a Format Hitec Graduated filter.Inspiration
l am a bit spoiled when it comes to landscape photography this view is about one minutes drive from my front door. l keep myself motivated when it comes to sunsets like this, you don't always get the shot you are looking for and sometimes you get that on shot that exceeds all expectations. Its what keeps me going out time and again.Editing
l used Lightroom to process this photo, l am not heavy handed with those sliders though. Just a little sharpening and tweaking with highlights and shadows.In my camera bag
l no longer have the Nikon D7100,l now use the Nikon D500.l always take several lenses out with me The Tokina 11-16 DX11 my favourite landscape lens. I also take a Nikon 35mm the kit lens that came with my D7100 18-105mm and a Nikkor 105mm micro lens this covers most of my photography needs. Other equipment ND Grad filters shutter release cable a micro fibre cleaning cloth is a must.Feedback
Buy a good tripod as it is a must for this kind of photography as are ND graduated filters l find the Format Hitec to my liking. What these do is to give you a better overall exposure to your photo. Many photos you see have captured a stunning sunset but the foreground is under exposed these filters go a long way to stop that from happening. Try and get to know the area look for points of interest and have a really good look through your viewfinder and get the photo just the way you want it before you take it. Lastly be prepared to be disappointed but always hopeful that you get that one shot.
