Behind The Lens

Location

This image is from a series of three composites that I created for my son whose favorite movie was 'How To Train Your Dragon'. The image of my son was taken in our living room, the mountains and sky were stock images from Robin Chavez Photography, the Dragon from Photographers Unleashed and the lake and trees from my own image collection.

Time

All different times of the day as it is a composite.

Lighting

The light was from many different sources. In post processing, it is important to make them look like they are coming from the same source so I paint the light and shadows.

Equipment

I used my canon 5D3, 70-200 for the lake and 24-70 for the image of my son.

Inspiration

My son inspired me, he loved the movie 'How To Train Your Dragon' and he wanted his very own dragon to fly. Both of my children inspire me for the majority of my composite images.

Editing

Absolutely. Without photoshop and post processing, this image wouldn't have been possible. I love having the technology to be able to create my own worlds, literally anything is possible as long as you have imagination.

In my camera bag

canon 5D3, 70-200 2.8ii, 24-70 2.8ii

Feedback

A lot of patience and an idea. Attention to shadows and lighting.
