Behind The Lens

Location

This is the famed spiral staircase in the Vatican Museum. I took this during my holiday in Rome, where I took a day to visit the Vatican City.

Time

The first thing I did was to find the spiral staircase when the museum opened at 10am. The stairs would be pretty crowded if I went any later.

Lighting

I just relied on the natural light from the top of the glass ceiling.

Equipment

This was shot using my Canon EOS M, with 11-22mm ultra wide angle lens. This is the setup that I usually use when traveling as I want to travel light.

Inspiration

I wanted to show the beauty of the spiral staircase that was so beautifully designed.

Editing

I usually post-process my photos. The post-processing for this photo was fairly basic though. I mainly adjusted the exposure, colours, contrast and reduced the noise in the photo.

In my camera bag

I like landscape photography, so I mainly carry a Canon EOS M with 11-22mm lens on my travels. Otherwise, it'll be a Canon EOS 5D3 with 16-35mm lens.

Feedback

The spiral staircase is generally quite crowded. Be prepared to go earlier to beat the crowd and you'll have to be patient to wait for an opportunity where there's no one at the stairs.
