On New Year’s Eve southern Utah was hit by a very significant snowstorm, which dumped up to a foot on many of the National Parks down here (Arches, Canyonlands, Zion, Capitol Reef). This is a pretty rare occurrence, and the wannabe photographer in me just couldn’t resist; so on 01-02-15, I packed up the car and headed south to Zion National Park. The park was incredibly beautiful in the snow, and I spent several days exploring the three “basic” areas of the Park – Lower Zion Canyon (the most famous), Upper Zion, and Kolob Canyons (the least visited area of the park). Of the three, I have always found Kolob to be the most beautiful (and certainly the “wildest” and least developed).

This photo is from the Kolob Scenic Drive, a beautiful road that winds up the canyon to a series of overlooks and trail heads. I liked it primarily because I thought "where else in the world is THIS the view from your windshield?". smile emoticon Hope you enjoy the photo.
