I took this photo on a bike ride on the shores of Loch Creran in Argyll, Western Scotland. I couldn't resist stopping and snapping this photo at such a a beautiful spotTime
The photo was taken early afternoon on a mid-summer's day - but I remember the location being astoundingly quiet for such a great dayLighting
I wanted to capture the magic of this location by capturing the reflection of the mountains in the water, and the way the bright colours of the seaweed contrast itEquipment

I wanted to capture a classic Scottish landscape in all its glory, and I think the calmness of the water and the contrasting colours reflecting in the water on such a nice summer's day here represent the splendour of Scottish HighlandsEditing

I think it's very important to say that a great photo can be taken with virtually any camera - although you have more options and better clarity with more expensive cameras, if, like me, they are somewhat out of budget for you, don't be afraid to experiment with digital / bridge cameras. Which brings me to another point - always bring your camera with you! I didn't go out with the intention of taking this shot, but happened to pass by this beautiful spot and thankfully had a camera to snap it. Finally, I would say (especially for landscapes) try taking the same shot from several different angles; I think this shot was taken from lying on my belly to fit as much of the seaweed in the foreground as possible!
