Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Dublin Castle in Dublin, Ireland

Time

The photo was taken around noon.

Lighting

The I was luck to have found clear sky with very little to no clouds during winter.

Equipment

I used my Olympus OM-D E-M10 place it on the ground and used 5 photos for stacking.

Inspiration

The vast court yard of the castle.

Editing

Because I took the photo with the intention to use photo stacking. I used Lightroom CC to merge the five photos which gave me the proper exposure for the sky, buildings, and ground. I made some local adjust to highlights and Shawow. The I made sure I had a white and black point for better contrast. I used a graduated filter for the sky and ground. Then I added a few radial filter to features I found interesting. Did some sharpening and minor noise reduction. The final thing I did was change the camera calibration to vivid so the color would pop.

In my camera bag

My normal work camera is a Canon 5DS R. My lenses are Canon 16 - 35mm f4L, Canon 24 - 70mm f2.8L II, Canon 75 - 200mm f4L, Canon 50mm f1.2, and Canon 85mm f1.8. My oversees travel camera is my Olympus OM-D E-M10 with 14-42mm and 40-150mm lenses.

Feedback

The only way to get the photo with an empty courtyard in the middle of the day is to take the photo on Christmas Day.
