Behind The Lens

Location

At Kolugljufur waterfall, northern part of Iceland.

Time

In the golden hour - at 5:30PM.

Lighting

The lighting shifted fast because of the clouds and I didn't really get the strong golden light, which means I had to pull up the saturation alot in post. But because of the clouds the lighting were also very even in the entire scene. No strong shadows which is very pleasing.

Equipment

5dm3 + EF 16-35mm F/2.8 II and a 10stop ND.

Inspiration

I randomly came by some pictures of this waterfall while preparing for the trip and thought it would be nice to visit, since I could time it perfectly with photographing it in the golden hour.

Editing

Yes! I added some color balance, saturation, detail extraction and a little flare to make the scene pop some more.

In my camera bag

My trusted 5DmIII, 16-35mm f/2.8L II, Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 VC, EF 70-200mm f/2.8L I.

Feedback

It's easy to make a long exposure which is too long on waterfalls - you still want to see a bit of movement - in this case 6sec might be a bit too long. Don't be afraid of postprocessing - it's your choice how to make the final product.
