This photo was taken in New Forest, England.Time
It was around 8am in the morning in February. The sun is behind the fog but the muted brown tones surrounding the lowland scrubs match the colour of the golden eagle which blends them in.Lighting
The condition of the surrounding was ambient muted light.Equipment
I used a Canon 5D Mark III, Canon EF500mm F4 L IS via handheld.Inspiration
I positioned myself very low on the ground to get to eye level position with the eagle. Also having blurred foreground and background creates separation to the subject.Editing
I am very happy with the RAW image itself, the colours, tones and exposure is close to perfection but it needs a little contrast and saturation boost. In order to do that, I further enhanced the contrast and saturation in Lightroom.In my camera bag
It all depends on what I am photographing and situations. If I were mainly to photograph wildlife, it will be EF 500mm F4L IS II, EF 100-400mm II, 2 bodies and a general 24-70mm 2.8 II in my bag with plenty of memory cards and charged up batteries. For landscapes, 1 body, EF 16-35mm F4L IS, EF 24-70mm F2.8 L II and EF 70-200mm F4L IS II, few memory cards ready and fully charged batteries.Feedback
Try to position yourself lower on the ground so you are shooting at eye level on your subject and understand the behaviour. When position yourself to your subject, consider what is on the background and the foreground. Try to shoot early hours or late evening as afternoon light tends to be harsh with high contrast image does not always look pleasing.
