Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Beacon Hill Park, Victoria BC. I've had an interest in photography for 20+ years, my first camera was a 35mm Nikon. I am self taught.

Time

It was mid afternoon on a balmy day in the park. The squirrel were running around as usual, looking for nuts and I just happened to have some in my pocket.

Lighting

Even though this shot was taken on a non-sunny day, you still need to be facing away from where the sun would be to avoid glare in your photo. I was crouched down to ground level, and waited for the perfect "squirrel pose" to click the shutter.

Equipment

I used a Fuji Finepix900 (Point and shoot), on EXR mode.

Inspiration

I've always thought squirrels are cute, even though they're rodents. The weather was perfect, and the squirrels were being "co-operative" so I decided to start clicking the shutter.

Editing

No post processing here.

In my camera bag

I usually just have my camera with me as it's a point and shoot.

Feedback

Always have your camera with you and make sure it's on the right setting! You never know when a photo op will present itself to you.
