I took this photo at Prior Lake in Victoria BC. I'm a self taught photographer and was ecstatic when I got my new camera so I could take great shots like this one!Time
It was mid afternoon when we arrived at the lake. As soon as we walked down the path to the lake, I spotted these two on the dock..no one else was there except the geese. It was a great opportunity for a photo shoot on a peaceful afternoon! I walked down ever so slowly, as to not disturb these two mates. Sat cross legged and inch by inch, I was able to get closer and closer to the geese, snapping the shutter each time I got closer to get the perfect shot!Lighting
The sun was behind me, and with a bit of cloud cover, I was provided with the perfect lighting. The reflections and colors of the landscape in the backround made a fantastic backdrop, and with no glare the subjects would stand out perfectly.Equipment
My Fuji Finepix 900 camera was the only thing I used.Inspiration
I have a love for nature of all types. I see something that will make a great photo, one that will make people feel a sense of calm, beauty, and where people could just imagine themselves there.Editing
There was no post-processing needed here.In my camera bag
I always carry an extra battery for my camera. Since it's a point and shoot, that's all I require.Feedback
If you haven't planned on taking photos, have your camera with you on hand anyway! I never know when a photo opportunity is going to present itself. Get out there, and seize the moment when it arises. Make sure you've checked the settings on your camera to be sure you're getting the effect you want. If you can say that "people would want to be here to enjoy this moment" start clicking the shutter!! I find that when I see something that looks like it would make a great painting, that's an indication that I should take some photos for all to enjoy.
