This is a fence that is along the old highway that ran along the southern edge of Boca Chica Key (in the Florida Keys), Most of the old highway has washed away, but the fence remains. All of the shoes are flotsam and jetsam that washed up on the beach over the years. Someone added the sign and it became a communal art project. It was removed by a group of college kids doing beach clean-up despite my pleas for them to leave it alone. Fortunately, I had captured this photo before it disappeared forever.
