Behind The Lens

Location

Cove Point, Maryland

Time

Just after sunset (which was behind me) about 7pm

Lighting

The sunset behind me caused very defined shadows on the storm clouds that were breaking up after a tropical storm passed over the Chesapeake Bay. It was my goal to capture the drama in the clouds.

Equipment

Handheld Nikon D3200 with a Tokina 11-16 lens.

Inspiration

I was looking for dramatic storm clouds that were leftover as a result of the tropical storm that passed over the Bay.

Editing

Some post processing was used in Adobe Camera Raw. I adjusted the clarity and the shadows to highlight the texture of the clouds as well as adjusting the white balance to make the image look as vibrant as I saw it with my own eyes.

In my camera bag

Camera, lenses, tripod, wireless shutter remote.

Feedback

If you know a storm is coming, track the local Facebook weather pages for others uploading cell phone pics of the storm. You can get locations and times that would be best to intercept the storm.
