This is the sunset taken on a mountain in Okanogan, Wa facing toward Twisp and Winthrop as they were surrounded by the Wa. state forest fires this summer. Visibility coming down the mountain was probably 20 feet ahead of us. We were 20 miles north of Twisp waiting to see if we were going to be evacuated.

I just took it as is, just started taking pictures What you see is the way it was.Equipment
Nikon L840, as it turned out, an entry level camera but it took grand pictures.Inspiration
I was house sitting on Cameron hill, down the highway from Omak. Washington state was burning and the fire was about 20 miles from us. We were concerned that we would have to evacuate pretty soon. The towns of Winthrop and Twisp were on fire. I wanted to see if I could get a picture their direction so I started down the mountain. The smoke was so thick visibility was about 10 feet on the road, so I found and unobstructed spot off of the mountain and shot pictures toward Twisp. Couldn't see anything but sun and smoke. The sun was going down . Beauty in destruction!Editing
I just play around, tried learning post processing methods but apparently not interested enough for the info to stick. So, my pictures are what you see is what you get.In my camera bag
Camera, batteries and charger, fresh set of clothes, bug spray, sun screen, water bottle and a pistol.Feedback
No, for me it is just a crap shot on most days, but I love every minute of it.
