Location
I took this Photo on a forest I frequent on the outskirst of Cologne in Germany. In October it is usually swarming with these beauties.Time
This was about an hour before sunset.Lighting
As soon as I saw the sun shinning so low through the trees, I knew I had to catch on theEquipment
I used my Canon 70D with my favourite lens, the canon 100mm macro f2.8. I used my tripod with no artificial lightning involved.Inspiration
Mushrooms are my favourite subject to photograph, I am always looking for them in the forest. This time I found a trunk full of the most beatiful mushrroms I remember having an endless amount of fun that day. As I was playing the sun began to set and as I saw the light shinning through the mushrooms I knew I had to take the shot.Editing
I usually like to go crazy on the post processing with my mushrooms pictures, just trying to add to the magic they bring. I usually go to the LAB color mode and start playing with channel invertions. It usually results in some really colorful pictures which I personally like a lot.In my camera bag
My only camera is the Canon 70D, I usually carry a 18-55, 70-200, a 10-18 and always the 100mm macro. I never leave my tripod at home.Feedback
Go out during the Fall. It is when the most beatiful mushrooms will appear. Especially after a rainy week, don't hesitate in frequenting the forest as they only last a couple of days. Usually the light in the forest is already beautiful, a reflector is sometimes useful in getting some hightlights, and a tripod is a must, the best are the ones that allow you to set your camera an inch from the ground.
