Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo downstairs at my house in Queensland, we breed greyhounds and this was the first litter where I had my brand new DSLR camera to play with. His name is Jethro hence the name- Sleepy Jethro.

Time

This image was taken on the 3rd October 2015 at 12:10pm, under fluorescent lighting.

Lighting

I wanted the image to look "dreamy" and with fluorescent lighting made it a bit hard so i had to change the white balance.

Equipment

I used my Canon EOS 6D, my canon 24-105mm lens- no tripod or flash was used.

Inspiration

Honestly newborn photography did. I wanted to recreate the "baby" feel but with a puppy. Also the fact that he had his tongue out at the time made it even more super cute.

Editing

I did a little touch ups with the white balance and exposure, other than that i didn't really do any major retouching.

In my camera bag

I always have my Canon 24-105mm lens with the lens hood- it's my baby. I use it all the time. Other equipment would include my Manfrotto 190x Tripod, my Speedlite 650ex-rt (flash) and my canon 50mm lens.

Feedback

Try different point of views. Try every possible angle of the subject you can think of. The more diverse range of images you have makes it easier to get that one image you want. It might sound crazy but it's better to have more than less. This way you can walk away from a shoot and be happy with what you've got, even it is just that one image.
