Behind The Lens

Location

Photo was taken at LaDrew Gardens in Maryland at one of the lily ponds.

Time

About mid-morning.

Lighting

The pond and the lilies were in dapples sunlight thus providing both light and shadow on the flowers.

Equipment

Fujifilm FinePix S4500 camera , F 5.9, Exposure 1/480, Focal Length 89.55

Inspiration

I like taking closeup photographs of flowers, especially waterlilies. The light reflecting off relatively still water provides interesting effects.

Editing

Minimum post processing, namely cropping, resizing. I wanted this photo to speak for itself without a lot of manipulation.

In my camera bag

When i use the Fujifilm camera I just use the camera, no filters, etc. I also us a Nikon CoolPic P900 with a polarizing filter.

Feedback

It is all about the light although, composition is important. Select the subject, move around to achieve a pleasing composition and make sure the direction of the light reflects favorably on the subject.
