As much as we love it we think of family as mom, child and, well in nature, the dads often are useless after conception or even become a predator who is kept at bay. On the central coast the elephant seals are a tourist attraction. This is shot far away from the hustle and bustle in one of the nurseries. The mother was preventing the kit to come closer to us, which she definitely intended.
